IMPORTANT: Before connecting your device with Amazon Alexa or Apple HomeKit  you must install SOMA Connect

INSTALLING SOMA CONNECT

  1. Connecting the cable. Connect the micro USB cable side of the cable to your SOMA Connect device. Connect the USB cable to the wall adapter. Plug in the SOMA Connect device adapter to the power socket (outlet)
  2. First, set up your Smart Shades device, follow the setup guide in the manual or go to www.somasmarthome.com/pages/support
  3. If your Smart Shades is already configured and working, confirm you're running the latest firmware version by updating your mobile app. Go to Apple Store or Google Play  and search for Smart Shades, see if there are any updates available. Install updates.
  4. Plug in the SOMA Connect device adapter to the power socket (outlet)
  5. Open Smart Shades app and select SOMA Connect from the menu.
  6. Select your preferred WIFI network from the list (where your Amazon Device is connected to). Enter your WIFI password
SOMA connect is now ready to use.

CONNECTING AND USAGE WITH Amazon Alexa

Open your Alexa mobile app or go to web page alexa.amazon.com
  1. Log in to your Amazon Alexa account
  2. Select “Skills”
  3. Search for SOMA Smart Shades
  4. Enable skill
  5. When the dialogue box appears Open Smart Shades app and copy SOMA Connect ID under Connect menu
  6. Enter the SOMA Connect ID (you will find the ID in Smart Shades app under the menu)
  7. For controlling Smart Shades use following commands:
  8. “Alexa, ask Soma to close/open the blinds/shades”
  9. “Alexa, activate Soma Smart Shades”  - “Alexa, open/close the blinds/shades”
  10. To control different groups you need to use the group name on the smart shades app. “Alexa, close/open /group name/  blinds/shades”



CONNECTING AND USAGE WITH Apple Homekit and Siri







  1. Open the Home App and tap Add Accessory or the plus sign. 
  2. Wait for your accessory to appear, then tap it. If asked to Add Accessory to Network, tap Allow. 
  3. Enter the SOMA Connect ID (you will find the ID in Smart Shades app under the menu)
  4. Add information about your accessory, like its name or the room it's located in. Siri will identify your accessory by the name you give it and the location it's in.
  5. To finish, tap Next, then tap Done. 
  6. For controlling Smart Shades use following commands:
  7. Siri, open/close shades “Sir, raise/lower shades” ?? Siri, open/close my shades
