We were looking for and automatic controller that can be used with our vera smart home controller, automatic roller shades were close to $600. per window, we have 28 windows, this is a less expensive option, adding a controller to each shade. We purchased 3 different brand controllers to try each one, Soma was our favorite for looks, however it does NOT have an option to walk up to a window for "manual control" of one window, therefore, we ruled this controller out, as that is part of our criteria. that is why it has 4 stars and not 5, it is quiet, and compact, although a little wider than some of the others, if you have narrow window sills.

I've been surprised to find how few products there are on the market for automating shades that are already installed. As a renter, I didn't want to spend money on an automated shade that might not fit in the next place I live. This is just what I've waited for. Easy to install and works well. The s lar panel is a nice touch but just means another cord to look at so I've found it better to just plug in and charge from an outlet when needed, which is rare.

2 reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars. 1) The wheel holding the chain in place has come off while opening, but so far only once. 2) Ideally, it would be great to have wifi connectivity in the device instead of requiring a separate hub.

Setup was easy, shipping was fast, and they work with apple HomeKit. The white plastic beaded chains work better than the metal chains, IMOP. Family and friends are very impressed with my setup!!!
